One of the best parts about visiting Ventura County is that you are never more than a 30-minute drive from the beach.  Many people stay in Ventura Beach Hotels in this area for that very reason – it is an ocean destination where the whole family can enjoy the weather, the water and the sights. 

Besides the surf, there are many other activities that make it worthwhile for families and individuals to seek out a hotel for a stay in Ventura County.  The area is surrounded by protected national forests that offer all kinds of outdoor activities like camping and fishing for people who want to take advantage of the amazing natural landscape of Southern California.  Ventura County is also one of the wealthiest parts of California, so you can be sure there are plenty of shopping and entertainment opportunities to keep you on the go!

The largest city in Ventura County is Oxnard as a result there are plenty of hotels in Oxnard, but let’s dive into some of the lesser known cities of Ventura County to give you some more options and some greater diversity.  For example, have you heard of Camarillo?  It is a small community on the 101 Freeway that is only about 20 minutes from the ocean. 

So why stay here and not right at the beach?  Well, for one, this place is quiet and safe, with a gorgeous view of the hills where you will get spectacular sunsets.  And if you have a shopper in your life, you are going to want to be near the Camarillo Premium Outlets. The Outlets include a huge group of stores that offer the best in upscale shopping.  Camarillo has hotels you have heard of such as the Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, Days Inn and more.

Another Ventura County community you may want to consider for your hotel stay is Port Hueneme (Why-NEE-mee).  If you have a surfer in your life, you will not regret your visit because the surf in Port Huemene and the whole Ventura County Coast is legendary.  The United States Navy has a base here, so military buffs will also enjoy it.  The Country Inn & Suites in this area gets great reviews for its fair price and clean rooms.  Plus, they offer a complimentary breakfast that is hot and fresh every day. 

The Casa Via Mar Inn & Tennis Club is a little more expensive, but it offers special packages and unique atmosphere, with a pool and spa.  There are also hacienda and kitchen units for a longer stay.

There are many other cities throughout Ventura County, so you can work your way through the area and see all it has to offer!  Try Thousand Oaks or Ventura itself.  You will fall in love with this very vibrant part of Southern California.
